Searching Dubois County Cases by Name
Indiana MyCase is the official public Odyssey search. It covers both the Dubois County Circuit Court and the Dubois County Superior Court. Pick the Name tab when no case number is handy. A last name or business name gets the query going. From there, add a first name, middle name, date of birth, court, status, case type, or filing dates. These fields trim a long list. MyCase caps any query at 1,000 results. A very broad Dubois County docket search can therefore leave matches unseen.
- Open MyCase and select the Name tab.
- Enter a last name or business name, then add a first name if needed.
- Select Circuit or Superior Court when the likely court is known.
- Use status, case type, or filing dates to narrow the list.
- Open a match and compare its court, caption, number, and filing date.
A trailing wildcard pulls up names that begin with the letters you type. For spelling trouble, the sounds-like option helps, though the official MyCase search tips note that the two tools cannot be used together.
| Field | Type | Required | Use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Last or business name | Text | Not marked | Primary name query |
| First and middle name | Text | No | Narrows similar names |
| Date of birth | Date/text | No | Separates people |
| Court | Dropdown | Not marked | Choose 19C01 or 19D01 |
| Status and file dates | Filters | No | Limits scope |
Dubois County MyCase Search Tabs
MyCase splits its docket search into Case, Name, and Attorney tabs. Case wants a case number, a citation number, or a cross-reference number. Name handles people and businesses. Attorney takes a lawyer's name or bar number. All three tabs reach the same public Odyssey records. They are best understood as routes into those records rather than separate Dubois County databases.
Lead with your strongest fact. A court notice usually lists an exact case number. That number is the best place to begin a docket search. A citation can carry both a citation number and a court case number. The two are not always identical. When you know the lawyer but not the caption, the Attorney tab earns its keep. Expect captcha prompts and limits on how much you can pull at once.
The official county communities source lists the towns and pages tied to Dubois County records.

Town names give local color, but county-filed cases sit under the two Dubois County court codes.
Searching Dubois County by Case Number
Every local case number opens with a court code. 19C01 marks Dubois County Circuit Court. 19D01 marks Dubois County Superior Court. The rest of the Indiana number packs in time, case-type, and sequence parts, so use the number the court printed rather than guessing digits. MyCase forgives dropped hyphens and leading zeroes.
The prefix also tells you where to aim a question. Circuit holds exclusive probate and juvenile jurisdiction. Superior takes all traffic and small claims. Other civil work is shared, and criminal cases follow local assignment rules. If an exact number comes back empty, strip the punctuation and loosen any narrow court filter. A transfer can also park case history with another court.
Best first search: An exact case number points toward one court file and avoids the false matches that a common name can produce.
Dubois County Result-Limit Fixes
Hitting the 1,000-result cap does not mean only those cases exist. Add a first name, middle name, birth date, court code, status, type, or filing-date range. Change one field at a time. That way you can tell which filter pushed out a likely case. Sounds-like widens spelling matches; a wildcard pins down a prefix.
Drop a tight court choice if the case you expect stays hidden. One person can have matters in both county courts. A case can transfer between them, too. When a docket search stalls, call the Dubois County Clerk of the Courts at 812-481-7035. You can also visit the counter at One Courthouse Square in Jasper. The clerk keeps the official trial-court files for both courts.
What a Dubois County Case Search Returns
A result opens a case header plus the Chronological Case Summary. The CCS is Indiana's ordered record of judicial events. MyCase shows only a public access copy. An entry might say a motion was filed, an order entered, or a hearing set. A motion entry means someone asked, not that the court ruled. A public document link adds more text. Its absence never proves the clerk lacks the filing.
| Case number | Court code and assigned Indiana identifier |
|---|---|
| Caption | Public case style, not a finding of fault |
| Type and status | Procedural category and open, closed, or disposed state |
| Dates | Filing, event, entry, and setting dates can differ |
| CCS description | Short account of a filing or judicial event |
| Document link | Available public filing, not the full clerk file |
Need the filed paper or a certified copy behind an entry? The Dubois County court records route covers those requests.
Dubois County Missing Document Links
Online documents vary by case type, date, and access rule. A CCS can be public while its filing image stays absent. The item may not be digitized. It may not be offered remotely, or it may hold restricted information. The docket event itself can still show.
When asking the clerk, bring the case number, court code, event date, and document title. Older civil, probate, criminal, marriage, deed, and genealogy material may live at the Records Library. The library is reachable at 812-481-7091. Nearly all county records predating the August 1839 courthouse fire were destroyed. That loss sets a hard floor for historical digging.
Statewide vs Dubois County Case Search
Dubois County runs no separate online case portal. MyCase is the statewide public face of both local Odyssey courts. The county layer is the clerk. It also includes the court counter and public terminal, phone lines, and the Records Library. Those channels supply the official file or a fallback whenever the state display falls short.
| MyCase statewide search | Dubois County channels |
|---|---|
| Searches public Odyssey cases | Locates the official clerk file |
| Searches by case, name, or attorney | Uses a number and record request |
| May link public documents | Provides plain or certified copies |
| May omit older or restricted files | Routes old material to the library |
Federal cases use PACER, shown in this assigned capture:

A Southern District of Indiana case number will not work in the Dubois County MyCase court filter.
Dubois County Party Access
A public docket search and party access are two different things in Dubois County. The "Is this your case?" option gives an eligible party wider online reach. It works once the system matches their identity and address. Help from the state spells out the timing. A one-time code works for 21 days. The access it unlocks lasts 180 days before you must renew it. If the matching process fails, the Dubois County Clerk is the fallback.
Broader access does not open sealed files to the world. Party access exists for people tied to their own case. Everyone else should stick to the ordinary case lookup. Ask only for records Indiana rules make public. The Ferdinand town contact page lists the officials who handle town questions.

Those officials handle town business, but county-filed cases still go through MyCase and the Dubois County Clerk.
Dubois County Court Selector
Pick 19C01 when a matter sits in Circuit. Use 19D01 when it sits in Superior. A city name alone tells you nothing. Indiana's official Odyssey court list names Jasper, Huntingburg, Ferdinand, Holland, and Birdseye. None gets a separate trial-court code. Cases filed from any of those towns enter the same county docket structure.
Unsure which court holds the case? Search both. Where a case landed is only a clue, never a stand-in for the printed case number. Circuit alone handles probate and juvenile work, while Superior alone handles traffic and small claims. Either court can take other civil matters, and criminal routing turns on the most serious charge filed.
Dubois County Access and Restricted Cases
The Indiana Rules on Access to Court Records start from openness. Rule 4 presumes the public can see court records. Rule 5 carves out what stays protected. Sealed, expunged, and juvenile material can be hidden. Confidential identifiers get shielded too. Protection-order cases will not surface in a normal MyCase name search, and paternity access can hinge on the filing date and a confidentiality flag.
A sealing order always beats MyCase. A blank result can also mean a spelling slip. It may point to an older record, a transfer, or a strict search filter. When a docket seems missing, ask the clerk for the lawful route instead of hunting protected data. The Indiana docket-reading source lays out these dated event rows.

Its dated event rows drive home a key point: a docket entry and the full filed document are separate records.
Note: MyCase is free public information, not a certified record. Confirm key entries with the Dubois County Clerk of the Courts.
